Sustainability standards and certifications

As a company that strives to do business sustainably, uvex has ambitious goals in the areas of the environment, economy and society. In all of its manufacturing facilities, uvex is working hard to increase energy efficiency and is committed to becoming carbon-neutral in the near future.

Environmentally friendly products, production facilities and processes are an integral part of our mission. This page provides an overview of the standards that the uvex safety group complies with and the certifications that we hold.

ISO 50001:2018 – Energy management systems

TÜV Süd ISO 50001 energy management system

Our ISO 50001:2018 certification confirms that we implement and apply an energy management system within our company. The uvex group uses an established energy management system to improve its energy footprint and reduce CO2 emissions. This standard also requires uvex to demonstrate – from the very first audit – that the company is continually improving its energy efficiency performance. The ISO 50001:2018 standard applies to safety glove development, production, sales and logistics at UVEX SAFETY Gloves GmbH & Co. KG in Lüneburg. The standard also applies at UVEX WINTER HOLDING GmbH & Co. KG, UVEX ARBEITSSCHUTZ GMBH, UVEX SPORTS Lederdorn GmbH and FILTRAL GmbH & Co. Vertriebs KG. In line with the company mission of protecting people, this ISO standard demonstrates that uvex safety is working towards taking responsibility with respect to the environment.

ISO 14001:2015 – Environmental management systems

TÜV Süd ISO 14001:2015 environmental management systems

ISO 14001:2015 defines requirements for environmental management systems, which are implemented to improve a company's environmental performance. By implementing this standard, uvex is adopting a systematic approach to its environmental responsibilities and contributing to the ecological pillar of sustainability. The definition of environmental objectives and measures – along with the implementation, monitoring and improvement of these measures – are central elements of this standard. Within the uvex safety group, this certification is currently held by UVEX SAFETY Gloves GmbH & Co. KG in Lüneburg for the development, production, sale and logistics of safety gloves and by uvex Cagi S.r.l. for the manufacture of safety footwear products. In 2020, SwedSafe AB also obtained certification for the development, production and sale of hearing protection.

ISO 9001:2015 – Quality management systems

TÜV Süd ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems

ISO 9001:2015 is an internationally recognised standard that sets out the minimum requirements for quality management systems, with a focus on optimising processes and quality. This process-orientated approach serves as an excellent starting point for sustainable development within the uvex safety group. The ISO 9001:2015 quality management certification is a matrix certification that includes the following sites and areas: UVEX SAFETY GROUP GmbH & Co. KG, UVEX-CAGI s.r.l., UVEX SAFETY Textiles GmbH, UVEX SAFETY Gloves GmbH & Co. KG, LASERVISION GmbH & Co. KG, UVEX ARBEITSSCHUTZ GMBH, UVEX HECKEL s.a.s and UVEX SAFETY Logistics GmbH.

ISO 45001:2018 – Occupational health and safety management systems

TÜV Süd ISO 45001:2018 occupational health and safety management systems

ISO 45001:2018 aims to effectively integrate occupational health and safety into day-to-day business practice. It was introduced in March 2018 to replace the BS OHSAS 18001 standard, which was the most frequently used health and safety standard before this point. This international standard not only defines requirements for occupational health and safety management systems, but also provides appropriate guidance and measures to implement these requirements in practice. The occupational health and safety management systems in place at uvex Cagi S.r.l. in Italy and SwedSafe AB in Sweden are certified under the ISO 45001:2018 standard.

OHRIS - Occupational Health and Risk Management System

OHRIS - Occupational Health and Risk Management System

OHRIS (Occupational Health and Risk Management System) is a management system devised by the Bavarian Government to improve health and safety in the workplace and to promote the safety of technical equipment. It serves as the basis for implementing a company health and safety management system, which can be used in conjunction with quality and environmental management systems (ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 respectively). OHRIS also gives the employer greater legal certainty with regard to its responsibilities towards employees. UVEX SAFETY GROUP GmbH & Co. KG, LASERVISION GmbH & Co. KG, UVEX ARBEITSSCHUTZ GMBH, UVEX SAFETY Textiles GmbH and UVEX WINTER HOLDING GmbH & Co. KG in Fürth have been certified for the implementation of a health and safety and technical safety management system that satisfies the requirements of the Occupational Health and Risk Management System (OHRIS:2018).
